Contractors seem to be getting more and more strict, been having a really hard time advancing with my welding career. All because of the Rec In Bs I'm just about to give up and move out of Texas, Unions seem to be the same. My problem is that they got welders who can barely weld and give no chance to the hard skilled workers, it's all family. I'm stressed as it can be trying to provide for my 2 little girls. I love to weld but I know after I pay everything off I might quit welding, it is disgusting and discouraging how it is here in Houston, Tx.

Hate to hear you're having such a tough time. First, I know of a company that I worked for here in Georgia that moved their headquarters to Texas. They have a hvac side and a plumbing side, both need welders. Rogers Mechanical, they are south of dfw but I'm sure they are working all over. They would be worth a call.
Second, tell everyone you can that your a welder and want work, like friends and family. I've had good opportunities pop up from a friend of a friend kind of thing.
Third, maybe research different industries and pivot into a different type of welding. Like going from general construction to aerospace. There are alot of doors being a welder can open and different industries might have a totally different vibe.
Just keep working hard it will pay off!
