So I really need some expert advice on this one.
But first, short story.
I was in a furniture store the other day, wife sent for a lounge, a few thousand dollars of lounge....So he had a few there and I had a look. I asked about the missing piece in a corner suite, guy says he is replacing that piece cause some kid ran at it and broke it. He was disgusted that the parents let the kid just run around...while I was thinking why he makes fragile furniture......my kids woulda turned that joint into rubble :). He said I could take a look at it if I wanted. Admit it, we all, nature of what we do, love looking at wrecked stuff. For design purposes at least.
Any how he was straight faced pointing at it, yet it was all really crap chipwood held together with glue and I was ashamed for him.
I did my narney and left with no lounge.
Do I buy fancy fragile crap and forever or untill it breaks, get kids to tippy toe.....nope. Imma build it myself.
Wife grimaced. My experience is in large projects and heavy machinery, but she came around after I got the bed made, sub 200 pound. Daughter took to idea enthusiastically, and requested a 4wd coil spring piano seat. Im keen to, but have hesitated, cause given the client it must be perfect, but also cause I am not confident what to use for welding spring to base etc. I am thinking silicon bronze braze, would that be right? Anyway if I get the weldment right it should last forever. ;)
