Hey Folks,
At the moment I have a tig torch braided, but i build some 8 Meter torches unbraided.
Anyone got experience with Velcro type cable ties?
I won’t use standard plastic cable ties because they are sharp and ugly..

i never heard of only using velcro ties. do you already have a outer cover for abrasion resistance ? yesterday i put this woven cover on my mig cable but my tig cable and water lines has a cover also
I usually sell and built torches like this:
But for my own torches, because they are only used on the welding table for Masterclasses, I want them more „pure and raw“, leightweight as possible.
I allready Made a 320 Amp Torch and tested it out over one our at 350 Amps, no problems yet. But I think over time it could be a problem, also braiding them costs length.
So ties would be a technical better solution. If have seen Brad Goodman braiding his torches, doesn’t seem to be a problem yet..
well i never tried only zipties but velco style should work fine im sure. my cables i have to drag on the floor with metal particles and such so i just use a outer cover with strong tape securing it every 12"
I usually use electric tape. It holds well and has some give. I tried the braided hoses but often found I was fighting with them to keep the torch at the right angle in my hand.
This might be a really, really dumb idea... but what about short sections of heat shrink tubing? Or wide rubber bands, like inch long sections of bicycle inner tubing. OK I guess if you're selling these torches the bicycle tubing is going to look pretty unprofessional... maybe turn it inside out so the customer doesn't see "schwalbe" or "continental" printed on the side ;-)
I actually like the braided lines care has to be taken to not braid them too tight or it will cause a stiffer cable but with these new superflex cables from CK Worldwide ive never had an issue.
Yes, That cables run Great! I braided the torch on the pics a bit to tight and changed that. The coolant wasn’t running through properly
