there seems to be almost no information about stick pulse welding that i could find. do any of you guys do it or have found any practical use for it? i been messing around with it on scrap pieces and kind of like it.
a few things ive noticed. so far it seems to have eliminated the annoying arc blow that sometimes rears its ugly head. the weld was 70-100* colder than without pulse. i immediatly raked the slag and quickly hand brushed the weld then used a laser gun. first test was 600* no pulse. 500* pulse. second test was 500* np. 430* p. i think the temp difference between test one and two was because the second test had a weld on the opposite fillet ,possibly sucking the heat or something. im not sure ,where as the first test had no weld on the opposite fillet. i cooled the plates back to 80* after the first weld.
plate was 1/2". 7018 1/8. blue one was 145a 1pps. green one was 150a 1pps. no color was 130a no pulse.
