In Brad Goodman's video on full penetration aluminum he used a Miller Dynasty that has all the features like waveforms and amplitude settings.
A member commented that he would like to see a similar video using a much simpler machine like the CK MT200.
I used a #5 clear cup (they film better) with around 18cfh
1/16" 2% lanthanated electrode
using the 115v pigtail adapter
AC balance set to 6
AC freq 120hz
set machine amps to 140 and used a foot pedal...actual amps peaked out at 72
This was .063" 6061 aluminum but since it was clamped in a fixture, it took about 10% more amps than without
This video deals with some of the most common mistakes when welding aluminum Tee joints and other aluminum fillet welds.
The Electrode Positive part of the AC arc is what breaks up the aluminum oxide layer on aluminum and allows the puddle to be clean and flow out well.
so let that cleaning action work for you before puddling dirty aluminum.
In other words...Dont puddle too quickly
